Threat Analyst

Novacoast is looking for a Threat Analyst 1 to assist with delivering exceptional service to our phishing response, MDR, and threat hunting customers.

Essential Qualifications

• Self-driven learner
• Accountable and trustworthy, with ability to follow strict information sharing constraints
• Understanding of phishing response procedures, phishing techniques, and applied analysis
• A demonstrated interest in cybersecurity, attacker TTPs, analysis, and investigation
• Aptitude for investigating indicators of compromise and suspicious processes
• Experience in researching domains, IPs, URLs, and hashes to determine maliciousness
• Strong technical writing skills
• Comfort with using command-line (Windows, Linux, and/or Mac)
• Comfort in interacting directly with customers
• Ability to work in a remote team and meet regular deadlines
• Able to participate in on-call rotation or potentially respond to after-hours needs

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience with email security platforms and/or managing phishing report mailboxes
• Splunk and/or Kibana experience (searches/queries)
• Experience with EDR tools
• Understanding of network protocols
• Scripting or advanced command-line skills
• Understanding of Windows, Mac, or Linux system internals (boot processes, file structure, etc.)
• Malware analysis skills
• CTF/Hack the Box/pen testing skills
• Understanding of threat intelligence processes
• Prior investigation/analyst experience
• Understanding of the Traffic Light Protocol for information sharing
