Description

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC (Asplundh) is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Analyst to support geospatial data analysis, vegetation management workflows, and electric utility operations as part of the Digital Innovation Team.

In this role, you will aggregate and analyze geospatial, financial, and field-acquired operational data to drive business insights and enhance decision-making. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large, diverse datasets and be proficient in developing automated workflows, integrating GIS and business intelligence tools, and supporting data-driven solutions.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and optimize ETL workflows in Safe Software’s FME to facilitate data movement, transformation, and automation from field-acquired sources into GIS databases

  • Support the development of data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across multiple applications

  • Extract, clean, join, and integrate large-scale geospatial and non-spatial datasets from various sources while maintaining high data quality standards

  • Assist in predictive modeling efforts, leveraging historical data to forecast trends in vegetation management and utility infrastructure performance

  • Provide technical expertise and support to various stakeholders, including data scientists, field personnel, engineers, and management teams

  • Stay current with industry trends in data science, GIS, and related fields while continuously expanding the skill set of the Data Team

  • Independently carry out tasks, applying critical thinking and problem-solving to devise effective solutions for complex challenges

  • Communicate complex analytical solutions in a clear and accessible manner for technical and non-technical audiences

  • Collaborate within an inclusive team environment, fostering open communication and collective problem-solving

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

This role requires technical proficiency, analytical thinking, and strong problem-solving abilities, along with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, GIS, and ETL development, preferably in the utility sector, with proven experience building and managing complex ETL workflows

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to evaluate alternative solutions and assess their strengths and weaknesses

  • Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle)

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to data transformation and integration

  • Strong understanding of spatial data principles and the ability to work effectively with GIS and geospatial datasets

  • Ability to independently identify and resolve data pipeline issues, proposing effective solutions

  • Self-starter with strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with vegetation management, electric utility workflows, and field data collection processes

  • Experience working with big data and large-scale data processing workflows
