Our client is a top law firm in Wilmington, DE. They are in need of a Billing Manager with expert knowledge of e-billing vendor systems to join their team!

Reporting to the CFO, the Billing Manager will lead a team of seven Legal Billing specialists and be in charge of implementing a new centralized accounting system!

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Finance leadership in managing all legal billing operations for the firm

  • Manage a team of seven billing specialists who hand all A/R invoicing responsibilities

  • Coordinate the implementation of a new centralized accounting/billing system, and handle all end-user training

  • Edit, prepare, and execute monthly bills for submission to clients accurately and efficiently

qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on billing experience, preferably in a law firm, with leadership experience strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop a billing team, ensuring team coverage and maintaining high performance. The role holds full responsibility for the billing process from start to finish.

  • In-depth knowledge of e-billing systems, including client setup and follow-up on invoices requiring attention.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret external counsel guidelines, providing appropriate direction to the billing team.

  • Advanced technical proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe PDF, and the ability to create, modify, and present complex data, reports, and analyses. Experience with Elite 3E is beneficial.

  • Expertise in managing billing rate adjustments and exceptions, including coordinating annual rate settings and submitting accurate timekeeper rates for e-billing clients. Familiarity with alternative fee arrangements is a plus.

  • Capacity to support financial system upgrades.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, a team player mindset, and the ability to work with numbers.

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with the finance team, attorneys, secretaries, and clients, including regular outreach to attorneys regarding unbilled time and billing queries.

  • Detail-oriented and customer-focused approach to problem-solving.

  • Ability to anticipate needs, set priorities, organize tasks, and work independently with minimal oversight.

  • Efficiently manage workload to ensure deadlines for invoicing, accruals, and budgets are consistently met.

  • Flexibility to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines and responding to ad-hoc requests from attorneys and clients.

  • Willingness to work weekends or evenings if necessary to meet deadlines.

  • High school diploma required, with college-level coursework in accounting or finance preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
