Verdantas is seeking an Environmental Technician I . This position will be located in Wilmington, Delaware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review activities and provide oversight on a variety of projects within the fields of environmental science and engineering

  • Operate various types of field equipment (e.g. GPS, tablets, data loggers, dust monitor, photoionization detector, etc.)

  • Prepare and maintain field documentation, such as job safety analysis forms, field project forms, field notes, and chain-of-custody forms

  • Prepare project-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs)

  • Review, understand, and interpret project plans and specifications, shop drawings, product data, Requests for Information (RFIs), and contract change orders

  • Perform scheduled tests, observations, and inspections in accordance with applicable test procedures, state/federal regulations, and project requirement

  • Operate and maintain remediation systems

  • Collect groundwater, soil, sediment, air, and surface water samples for laboratory analysis

  • Enter collected data into report format using applicable software and company formatting guidelines

  • Assist in preparing technical reports to document project findings, conclusions, and recommendations

  • Apply basic knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and regulatory programs

  • Operate and maintain company vehicles and equipment

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Associate or Bachelors Degree preferred

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience

  • Capable of working primarily in an outdoor work environment and occasional office environment

  • When in an outdoor environment, the employee is subject to walking distances in uneven terrain, varying temperature, and weather conditions, and some heavy lifting

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training a plus
