Novant Health Operations Analyst (NHRMC Only) in Wilmington, North Carolina

Job Summary

Provides operational and financial support across multiple Nursing units in order to achieve and maximize unit efficiency; work with nursing leaders to plan, strategize and coordinate the health services across several units. Acts as a liaison to other departments for the implementation of new projects, creates reports to analyze operational effectiveness, works to reach financial goals and maintains budgets.

  • Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5pm

  • Department: Nursing Administration

  • Location: New Hanover Regional Medical Center (Wilmington, NC)

  • Responsibilites:

  • Review the scheduling and staffing to ensure it is affordable and will meet the needs of projected volumes for the upcoming time period.

  • Track census, census summary report, obtain 24 hour nursing report from transformational nurse.

  • Support FTE analysis and drive Position Management to fill positions. Payroll monitoring to review any outliers with overtime, special pays, bonuses, etc. Manage Productivity and investigate opportunities.

  • Evaluate factors related to staffing effectiveness, cost and supply utilization.

  • Review business unit functions in records, payroll, billing, accounts receivable, inventory and supply management.

  • Maintain the department budget consistently to achieve targets in collaboration with the Nurse Manager including flexing staff based on workload using FTE analysis tools and Inventory and Supply Management monitoring.

  • Monitor Budget Variances and Track lost charges.

  • Assist in managing capital requests from the unit.

  • Reconcile accounts and provide financial reports to the Nurse Manager.

  • Tracks and prepares documents for License annual verification, and employee annual performance evaluations for Managers.

  • Review employee and patient satisfaction data from NRC Picker with the manager and highlights trends and areas of potential concern.

  • Assists Manager in developing projects for PI operational initiatives.

  • Assist in implementing corporate transformation initiatives – oversee implementation for assigned units and acts as a liaison and facilitator.

  • Drills into unit and facility scorecards to understand trends.

  • Meet regularly (at least weekly) with Managers to discuss current operations and have a plan for the unit to follow to meet goals and metrics.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in business or health care administration, finance, accounting or other related area.

  • Experience: Minimum of three years business experience, required. Healthcare experience, preferred.

  • Additional Skills (required): Need to understand hospital economics, labor relations, and financial reporting. Due to the intense paper work and staff interaction, it is important to have strong verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to work well with a variety of professionals, as well as able to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail required. Strong computer skills necessary. Must be able to secure and maintain private and confidential information.
