Job Overview

The Industrial Advanced Manufacturing (AME) team is seeking a chemical engineer to join our innovative team, developing cutting-edge technologies for our global manufacturing facilities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain international experience, leading high-impact projects that drive the evolution of manufacturing processes for TE’s Industrial business unit. Our team collaborates closely with TE’s manufacturing sites to deliver advanced manufacturing capabilities that enhance productivity and integrate next-generation manufacturing and digital technologies.

As part of the AME team, you will work on end-to-end solutions for new innovations, from development to deployment, while providing on-site assistance for plating manufacturing plants. You will have hands-on involvement with development and manufacturing lines to review new technologies, making this an exciting opportunity to work in dynamic environments.

This position is remote opportunity for candidates that live in or near the Winston Salem, NC area.

Responsibilities:

Process Development:

  • Lead the development and deployment of new plating processes and technologies for manufacturing plants within the business unit.

  • Manage all phases of the process development, from concept and design through to release into production environments.

  • Serve as the lead chemical engineer, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers on the team.

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including planning, task definition, resource estimation, and execution.

  • Produce technical documentation, including detailed design drawings, process specifications, and production requirements.

  • Technical Collaboration:

  • Conduct hands-on experimental trials with various manufacturing technologies in a chemical environment.

  • Interact with vendors, manufacturing teams, and cross-functional engineering teams to assist the process development.

  • Provide on-site technical assistance to global manufacturing facilities as needed.

Core Engineering Skills:

  • Proficiency in electroplating processes (reel-to-reel and loose-piece plating).

  • In-depth knowledge of electroplating chemistries, including formulations, analysis, and maintenance.

  • Understanding of chemical reaction kinetics as it relates to electroplating processes.

  • Hands-on experience using and interpreting data from analytical tools like XRF, XRD, and SEM.

  • Ability to examine chemistries in the lab using analytical methods and devices such as AAS and ICP.

  • Expertise in conducting Design of Experiments (DOEs), capability studies, and Measurement System Analysis (MSAs).

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a logical approach, using methods like root cause analysis, Six Sigma DMAIC/DMADV, and FMEA.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Drive innovation by providing insights into new technologies and development projects from the AME team to other TE manufacturing facilities.

  • Adapt and comply with engineering standards and industry practices.

  • Submit invention disclosures detailing the technical aspects of novel concepts.

  • Looking to be a technical expert and leader in deploying next-generation manufacturing technologies.

  • Demonstrate a willingness to travel globally and engage directly in hands-on manufacturing environments.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry Degree or equivalent degree (preferred)

  • 8 or more years of experience in manufacturing or process development, specifically in electroplating or similar fields.

  • Experience with Creo or other 3D-CAD systems is a bonus.

  • Six Sigma and Lean training preferred.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Cross-disciplinary skills in electrical, mechanical, controls, or programming are a plus for innovation projects.

  • Based on business needs this role will require travel to Germany 3x a year for 2-3 weeks at a time, candidate must be ok with this.

COMPENSATION

• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $123, 500 – $185,300 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
