COUNTY OF WOOD Network Analyst in WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wisconsin

The role of the Network Analyst is to assist in maintaining the high availability of network communication throughout the Wood County campuses. This includes all aspects from the planning and design to the implementation and maintenance of network hardware, software, IP phone systems, faxes, and communication links. This position will assist other IT staff to analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Network Infrastructure Assists with the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of County network, including Local Area Network (LAN) systems, Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) systems, Wide Area Network (WAN) systems, Voice Over IP (VOIP), and related operating systems, and infrastructure. 1. Install and maintain switching, routing, and security equipment throughout County and Municipal facilities to ensure 24/7 operations. 2. Provides technical support, consultation, and recommendations. 3. Responds to critical systems emergencies and troubleshoots network outages. 4. Assist in the design and implementation of Wood County Security strategies. 5. Analyzes and makes recommendations for appropriate hardware and software upgrades and provides cost/benefit analysis of alternative configurations. 6. Assists in the design and maintenance of network resources, such as VLANS, IP pools, DHCP and DNS. Server/Domain Infrastructure Assist in the design, implementation, maintenance and support of County Microsoft Active Directory Domain infrastructure and production servers in a mixed environment comprised of virtual and physical servers utilizing SAN connections. 1. Applying patches to OS and applications on servers. 2. Deploys and upgrades servers to meet the needs as set forth by Programmer Analysts, vendor/technical specs, and templates. 3. Maintains and troubleshoots existing Exchange email environment dispersed between multiple locations for County email. 4. Monitors and maintains current backup systems as well as assists in planning and monitoring of disaster recovery strategies. 5. Implement and change user and computer configuration via group policy and management software. Technical Support 1. Monitor and analyze network and VOIP traffic, along with server services with the assistance of tools like PRTG and SolarWinds. 2. Effectively monitor and utilize antivirus software to protect County endpoints. 3. Establishes good working relationshi s and effectively communicates within the IT department as well as other County staff, elected officials, vendors and technical peers from other agencies. 4. Locates and resolves complex PC/LAN hardware and software issues using available tools and site visits. 5. Effectively diagnose and resolve complex tier 2 and 3 communication, PC hardware and software issues using telephone, remote tools, and site visits. 6. Mentor and assist technicians, interns, and application support to further develop their skills and knowledge. 7. Attends training, technical conferences, and seminars and reviews publications to keep current regarding new network, software, hardware and security products and procedures. 8. Assists with imaging, installation, and replacement of end user equipment such as PCs, phones, and copiers/printers. General Responsibilities 1. Responsible to know and practice the Safety policies of the County. Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner. 2. Additional Tasks and Responsibilities While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members. 1. Respond to after hours support calls. 2. Serve as the County\'s Backup Social Media Coordinator. 3. Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records of County hardware and software. 4. Provide project management for network and server related projects. Including timely updates, comprehensive status reports, and excellent communication to all stakeholders. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: -A minimum of four years\' experience troubleshooting hardware, software and networking. -Minimum of two years of experience with Cisco Router configuration or any combination of Cisco, Network and/or Microsoft certificates, experience and education that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. -Cisco and Call Manager knowledge preferred. -Must possess solid troubleshooting skills and have extensive and current knowledge of hardware, software, and networking. -Excellent communication skills with a high level of attention to detail. -Ability to effectively prioritize workload and efficiently manage time. -High focus on customer service. Must be able to pass a background investigation for law enforcement purposes. Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) training preferred. This position may require travel to and from off-campus sites. Individual may use personal vehicle or other means of reliable transportation.
