The role of a Project Quality Engineer is essential in supporting product development projects by gathering, defining, and ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering quality requirements according to customer specifications and BASF processes. Acting as the internal voice of the customer, the Project Quality Engineer is responsible for addressing customer-specific requirements, ensuring they are rated and implemented economically and in accordance with industry norms. This role necessitates collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into actionable quality requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Additionally, the Project Quality Engineer ensures that all quality management (QM) rules align with recognized standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, VDA, and AIAG procedures. This involves conducting regular audits and process reviews to maintain compliance and enhance quality management systems. The engineer is also tasked with operating customer portals and QM-related IT systems, which includes entering relevant data, monitoring quality metrics, and facilitating communication between customers and stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment on quality objectives.

As a Project Quality Engineer, you create chemistry by...

  • Supporting product development projects to gather, define and meet all relevant engineering quality requirement(s) according to customer and BASF processes

  • Ensuring customer Quality requirements are understood in the organization

  • Validating deviations in Engineering Gate Reviews and recommending necessary actions

  • Ensuring consistency of key characteristics from design to series process

  • Working in global Quality team to align customer needs/expectations and requests.

  • Supporting APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) of new products

  • Planning and preparing PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions on new products and engineering changes to meet customer deadlines and customer specific requirements

  • Actively participating in the development and maintenance of P-FMEA’s. Collect Lessons Learned and ensuring that general improvements are incorporated in the global generic Mother-P-FMEA to close the PDCA loop. Up-dates process flow charts

  • Driving NCM handling. Analysis of returned part from warranty process to ensure that customer complaints are resolved sustainably

  • Analyzing data to detect quality problems and recommending corrective action. Also leading customer related audits and ensuring compliance to specifications and documented procedures. Supporting Audit & Document Management during all non-customer related audits, e.g. IATF16949

  • Working in customer systems – Lead “Self-Assessments” related to customer specific requirements and audits and drive answering internally. Also monitoring customer quality score card and initiating corrective actions if necessary

  • Updating regularly “Customer Specific Requirements” documentation together with Audit/Document Quality Management and supporting Key-account manager rating “Quality Assurance Agreements” (QSV) and definition of adequate countermeasures

If you...

  • Possess a High School Diploma (or a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or comparable manufacturing/industrial discipline preferred).

  • Hold 5years of experience related to quality management.

  • Are able to work independently under broad goals and objectives with minimal guidance. Also, strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exhibit demonstrated leadership skills with focus on relationship building and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient with SAP PPM, MS Office, and other CMMS this would be preferred.

  • Have knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Core Tools this would be preferred.

  • Have excellent knowledge of IATF16949, ISO 9001 and other certificates, e.g. ISO14001. this would be desirable.
