Our Technical Expertise and Engineering team is seeking a Sr Manager, Instrument, Electrical, & Controls (IEC) Reliability Expertiseat either our Geismar, LA, Freeport, TX, or another acceptable location. As the Manager of the IEC Reliability Expertise group within the Technical Expertise organization, you will lead a team of highly skilled Electrical, Instrument & Control, Safety Instrumented Systems, and Process Analyzer Engineers. Your role will be crucial in providing expertise support in maintenance and reliability for these discipline assets across BASF sites in North America. Additionally, you will guide the team in troubleshooting, construction, and turnaround support within their respective areas of expertise.

Leading a team of Instrument & Control, Electrical, Process Analyzer, and Safety Instrumented System Expertise engineers. Your leadership will be crucial in providing support, troubleshooting, guidance, and strategic direction to our sites across North America and globally in all these discipline areas, with a focus on improving reliability.
Providing leadership to different contracting and execution strategies (EPC, System Integrators, Electrical & Instrumentation contractors, etc.) with an understanding of the respective division of work and responsibilities.
Providing leadership on Global teams (GTECs), guiding the strategic development within the Electrical, I&C, PAT, and SIS discipline areas. Additionally, lead team members in their involvement in associated global initiatives.
Embracing BASF CORE values and department focus areas to develop the staff, building a high-performance team by providing performance feedback, career development advice, and competency development through training.
Overseeing and guiding on the development optimization of corporate Electrical, Instrument & Control, Process Analyzer, and Safety Instrumented Systems Engineering procedures, work processes, best practices, and tools.
Strongly collaborating with and supporting other managers within Technical Expertise group, especially with I&E Discipline group and Maintenance and Reliability teams.
Participating in industry organizations (i.e., NFPA, NEC, PIP, ISA), and industry standards committees.
Influencing and motivating regional and global stakeholders to adopt, implement and sustain appropriate processes related to Instrument & Control, Electrical, Process Analyzer, and Safety Instrumented Systems.
If you...
Hold a BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation/Controls Engineering or other engineering (with related experience) with a minimum of 12 years of experience in Electrical, Instrument & Control, Safety Instrumented Systems, Process Analyzer, and automation engineering within the refining or chemical industry.
Have Chemical Industry experience and experience in maintenance & reliability execution, especially in the Instrument & Control, Process Analyzer, Safety Instrumented Systems and Electrical discipline areas.
Have strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills with ability to lead business development activities along with cross-functional teams and lead workshops.
Possess knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, process analytics, and safety system expertise (equipment and infrastructure) and knowledge of maintenance expertise support within industry (chemical preferred).
Have prior supervision and leadership experience working with international teams with diverse cultural backgrounds (Strongly preferred).
Have prior work experience in electrical instrumentation, process control, (civil, mechanical, procurement, construction and TAR.
Have prior work experience in electrical engineering in a manufacturing environment (minimum of 10 years) (Preferred).
Possess experience in leading efforts to identify and implement electrical improvements in the Chemicals, Refining or Petrochemicals industry. Implementation of Continuous Improvement projects by analyzing production data and identifying trends (Preferred).
Have strong Customer Focus skills and Entrepreneurial mind set.
