About the Business Associate:

The Business Associate (Associate) plays a critical role in loan processing and is often the go-between for clients, DS Baker Advisors and the lending team. 

The Associate is responsible for reviewing loan requests, researching existing documentation on renewals to determine deficiencies that will need correction or follow-up, ordering required support documents and generating loan documents. Utilizing NextGen software as the primary tool, the Associate communicates regularly with clients and other members of the DS Baker Advisors and lending team.  This position requires a strong service-oriented individual with detailed knowledge of all Baker Boyer loan types and deposit products. 

Key Responsibilities

  • The Associate provides clients with a variety of services pertaining to business, agricultural, commercial real estate and construction lines of credit.  Duties to include, but not limited to:
  • Serves as the primary contact between client and the Business Advisor(s) for day-to-day transactions; gathers information for loan transactions and moves the application through the workflow to the documentation stage.  
  • Obtains information related to the loan origination process including but not limited to: ordering credit reports, appraisals, preliminary title reports, UCC searches, environmental reports, insurance information, flood certificates and various other items. Verifies that legal documentation or Government Agency Guaranteed loans are complete and correct.
  • Creates new loan files, maintains existing loan files, and takes a lead role in clearing exception items from the origination system, working in partnership with the Business Advisors and Loan Operations.
  • Maximizes needs met by identifying client needs and proactively recommending products and services to meet those needs. Handles personal banking requests from business owners and their families. Makes referrals to other areas of the bank. Responsible for retaining and expanding existing client relationships with the Bank.
  • Maintains familiarity with the financial module of  the lending software and is able to spread and analyze financial documents.

Performs a variety of administrative duties for Business Advisor(s), most of which are confidential and complex in nature. Duties include but are not limited to:

Assists in the preparation of loan reports and supporting documents for approval.
