About the Position: The incumbent will be assigned to the 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, JBLM Logistics Division - Yakima General Equipment Maintenance Branch at Yakima Training Center, Washington. Responsibilities Assign the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led. Ensure time standards and deadlines are met and enough workload to keep everyone in work crew busy. Make certain that safety and housekeeping rules are followed. Ensure plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall works operations and problems. Perform repairs and services to heavy mobile and automotive equipment requiring extensive disassembly, rebuilding, reassembly, and connection/alignment with other major systems. Rebuild and overhaul manual transmissions by replacing/rebuilding/adjusting gears, bearings, shift mechanisms, and clutch pressure plates. Replace shock absorbers, springs, mounting brackets, brake shoes, brake pads, wheel cylinders, temperature gauges, freeze plugs, water pumps, heat exchangers, mufflers, and tires as needed. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision to include preforming common leader duties of overseeing employees engaged in accomplishing trades and labor work; perform repairs and services to heavy mobile and/or automotive equipment; and troubleshoot to locate defects/causes of problems to determine the extent of repairs. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Must frequently bend, stretch, reach, climb and crouch. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and must push, pull, turn and position heavy parts. Occasionally may change tires weighing over 100 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work both inside and out in adequately ventilated area. Work is dirty, greasy, and noisy. Incumbent is subject to inhalation of exhaust fumes and possibility of cuts, bruises, burns, and skin irritations. May be exposed to hot or cold weather when servicing a vehicle broken down on the road. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position.
