Cornell Cooperative Extension Facilities Assistant - Yaphank, NY in Yaphank, New York

• Assist with daily grounds operations, including mowing, pruning, cleaning, and planting.

• Assist with maintaining and repair of equipment.

• Assist with general carpentry and building maintenance, including general plumbing, electrical work,

and fence repair.

• Assist with cleaning offices, restrooms, and public spaces.

• Assist with planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops as needed.

• Accept other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 2 years experience in a related field.

  • Valid NYS driver's license and the ability to meet the travel requirements associated with this position.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including, but not limited to, moving and transporting fifty (50) pound bags of feed and bales of hay.

  • Ability to climb into the squeeze chute and over fences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform minor mechanical and maintenance repairs.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate farm equipment.

  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member working with volunteers and staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual means.

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary: $17.84 per hour (40 hours per week)

Schedule: NON-EXEMPT – Reg

No relocation or VISA Sponsorship available
