Job Title: Solar Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Solar Technician with expertise in operating and maintaining power plant electrical systems, SCADA and controls systems, troubleshooting advanced electrical components, and performing equipment preventative and corrective maintenance. This role involves working primarily outdoors, performing installations, initial start-ups, and mechanical work in electrical substations at solar sites. This position does not offer per diem, must be local.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain power plant electrical systems, SCADA and controls systems.
Troubleshoot advanced electrical components using established procedures.
Perform installation and initial start-ups of industrial circuit breakers.
Conduct mechanical work in electrical substations.
Inspect equipment, structures, and materials at designated sites to identify and resolve errors or defects.
Service, repair, and adjust parts of equipment operating on mechanical principles.
Analyze information and evaluate results to select the best solutions for customer issues.
Perform physical activities requiring considerable dexterity and agility.
Support GE Factory Production as needed.
Operate man lifts, cranes, and reach fork trucks.
Complete paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, including Field Service Reports, timecards, and expense reports.
Read and understand electrical schematics and prints.
Perform medium and high voltage switching.
Test and troubleshoot medium voltage and high voltage equipment, including transformers, potential transformers, current transformers, breakers, relays, contactors, motors, and inverters.
Maintain and operate utility-scale PV power plants, primarily monitoring PV plant operations through SCADA.
Commission, test, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and modify AC and DC solar PV systems, including inverters, PV module arrays, transformers, switchgear, and metering systems.
Essential Skills
Demonstrated knowledge in electrical safety and arc flash standards.
Understanding and ability to follow operating, switching, maintenance, safety, and environmental procedures.
with experience in Lockout Tag Out and Job Hazard Analysis.
Working knowledge of industrial or power facility operation and maintenance.
Knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical schematics and prints.
Proficient at medium and high voltage switching.
In-depth experience testing and troubleshooting medium voltage and high voltage equipment, including transformers, potential transformers, current transformers, breakers, relays, contactors, motors, and inverters.
Capable of retrieving relay files and documentation.
Fluency in utilizing a CMMS system for maintenance tracking.
Proven computer skills in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office Products).
Good English oral and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
Self-directed and accountable, with critical thinking skills regarding processes and issues.
Highest level of integrity.
Valid Driver’s License.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with medium and high voltage equipment.
Experience in solar, electrical, O&M, electrical testing, substation, motors, transformers, and high voltage power.
Work Environment
The work involves outdoor activities, requiring physical dexterity and agility, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
