Amentum Towed Artillery Mechanic-5 in Zavzerni, Poland

Purpose: Under minimal supervision, Artillery Mechanic can repair and service towed artillery to include M119A3 and M777A2 Howitzers, M120, M252, M224 Mortar systems and accessories. This position reports to the Armament Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs detailed assembly and disassembly of towed Howitzer and mortar systems to include inspection, maintenance, services, rebuilds, and minor repairs.

  • Performs detailed disassembly, assembly, inspection, cleaning, maintenance, PMCS, gauging and minor repairs of foreign / domestic small arms and accessories.

  • Performs 10-30 level of maintenance as an operator\maintainer.

  • Possesses knowledge of the tools (i.e., hammers, punches, files, stones, etc.) and gauges needed to perform assigned duties. Has limited knowledge in the operation of gun-smiting machinery such as surface grinders, etc.

  • Conducts pre-checks of weapon serviceability prior to the Quality Control Inspection.

  • Ensures strict compliance to safety practices and support the Safety Policies and Procedures.

  • Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.

  • Adheres to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of Quality Management System.

  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in field level maintenance, with at least 3 years of the years’ experience on towed artillery.

  • Prior Military experience in a Field Artillery Unit required (US Army 91F, 13BU6, USMC 2131).

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Has knowledge of basic shop safety procedures needed to work in a small arms environment and performs support functions for the shop.

  • Must have knowledge of diagnostics tools and forms used at the unit level.

  • Must be able to read vehicle/equipment schematics.

  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret U.S. Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • International driver’s license prior to deployment preferred.

Certification, License & Clearance:

  • Valid US Driver’s license required.

  • US Citizenship required.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a CAC, if required.

Facility credentials/authorization required :

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility and credential /authorization:

Note- US Citizenship is required for facility credential/authorization at this work location.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.

  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.

  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

  • When performing work, responsible for adhering to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
